Armed Forces Emergency Services (AFES) A Shoulder to Lean On The American Red Cross is uniquely equipped to provide an exclusive worldwide communications and support network that serves as a lifeline between military service members and their families. For the American soldier and his or her family, the Red Cross is the connection to home, relaying urgent information -- a family crisis, a death in the family, a financial emergency, or a joyous birth.
For service members and their families residing on military installations, call (877) 272-7337 if this is an emergency and you need to communicate with a family member in the military. For service members and their families who do not live on the base, please call your local Allegany County Chapter at (585) 593-1531.

The American Red Cross is implementing a sweeping
modernization for its Armed Forces Emergency Services (AFES) utilizing the latest technology
to improve and consolidate emergency communications and case management
activities for service members. More local, trained volunteers or chapter staff
rather than national sector staff will provide services to service members.
