Savor
the Flavor – A Taste of Allegany County Wellsville, New York, February 21, 2007—On
Sunday, March 4, 2007, restaurants and food service businesses in
Allegany County will put their signature cuisines on display and
out for consumption at the First Annual Savor the Flavor – A
Taste of Allegany County to benefit the Allegany County
Chapter of the American Red Cross.
This countywide event will take place from noon to 3pm at
the Cuba VFW. Tickets
are $25.00 and the entire cost of the ticket is tax deductible.
A
smorgasbord of food will be offered.
Appetizers will include assorted cheeses from The Cuba
Cheese Shoppe, Tuscan Bean Soup and Cream of Potato & Ham Soup
from Ace’s Country Cupboard in Belfast, Pasta Fagioli from
L’Italia in Wellsville, and Chicken Noodle Soup and Chili from
The Kopper Keg in Cuba. Main
dishes served will include a Seafood Stuffed Pastry Puff from
Moonwinks in Cuba, Italian Sausage from Giant Food Mart in Cuba
and Wellsville, Greek Chicken Sausage from Mak’s Meats &
Cheese in Cuba, Pulled Pork BBQ Sandwiches from Bhyllis Business
Enterprises in Cuba, pizza and subs from Harrington’s in
Belfast, chicken and chicken wings from Charlie’s Chicken &
Treats in Cuba, subs from The Wellsville Subway, and, of course,
Texas Hots from The Texas Hot in Wellsville. For
side dishes, Reuben Santiago of Stage II Bistro in Cuba will be on
hand to make pasta cooked to order, The Belvidere Restaurant in
Belmont will be bringing Chicken & Broccoli Pasta, L’Italia
in Wellsville will have their Four Cheese Pasta, and The Beef Haus
in Wellsville will be bringing German Potato Salad.
Desserts
should be especially fun. Alfred
State’s Culinary Dept. in Wellsville will bring Petit Fours and
offer a cake demonstration, Cakes and Curios in Cuba will bring a
Cupcake Cake, and Cuba Memorial Hospital will also have assorted
desserts on hand. To
top everything off, Cuba Liquors and Park Plaza Liquors in
Wellsville will offer a tasting of New York State Wines.
Jazz
bands from the Belfast and Cuba-Rushford schools and the Scio
School Choral Group will be on hand for musical entertainment, as
will Jim Keough and Vanessa Lawson from Cuba.
There
will be several door prizes as well.
Tami’s Floral Expressions in Wellsville, Kester’s
Flower Boutique in Cuba, and Hannigan’s Florist in Belmont will
be donating floral centerpieces for decorations and door prizes at
the end of the day, and there will be several Red Cross safety
items to be given away. There
will also be a silent auction for gift certificates from Scott
Piatt of Summit Healthcare Aesthetic Solutions in Olean.
Argentieri’s
of Wellsville is donating the use of linen tablecloths and napkins
and Kate Plants of Plants & Co., Inc. is offering her
decorating expertise to make this an extra special event.
Many
area businesses will be sponsors for this event.
The Lions Club of Cuba and L.C. Whitford are Gold Patrons,
Cuba Cheese and The Waters of Houghton are Silver Patrons, and
Bronze Patrons include the Wellsville Lionesses and the Belfast
Lions Club, First Citizens National Bank in Wellsville, the Cuba,
Fillmore, and Fishers Pharmacies, Giant Food Mart in Cuba and
Wellsville, LaForge Disposal Service in Wellsville, the Loyal
Order of Moose #601 in Wellsville, Release Coatings of NY in
Wellsville, Richardson & Stout in Wellsville, Otis Eastern in
Wellsville, Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Abraham of Cuba, and Mr. and
Mrs. James Keough of Cuba. The
Bolivar Lioness Club has also graciously donated to this event,
and the Cuba VFW Post #2721 is kindly donating the use of their
