Savor the Flavor - A Taste of Allegany County A fundraiser for the Allegany County Chapter of the American Red Cross
On Sunday, March 4, 2007 the Allegany County Chapter of the American Red Cross held a fund raiser called Savor the Flavor – A Taste of Allegany County. When we first began discussing this venture over nine months ago, we could not have envisioned the overwhelming response we would receive from the establishments that participated in this event and the support we would receive from the community. I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank each and every establishment that participated: Moonwinks Restaurant, Stage II Bistro, The Kopper Keg, Bhyllis Barbeque, Ace’s Diner, Charlie’s Chicken and Treats, Cuba Cheese Shoppe, Cakes and Curios, Cuba Memorial Hospital, The Belvidere, Harrington’s Grocery, L’Italia, The Beef Haus, Giant Food Mart, Mak’s Meats, The Alfred Culinary School, Wellsville Subway, and the Cuba and Wellsville Liquor Stores. You outdid yourselves. The food selections were excellent and the portions were more than generous. The wine sampling could not have been better. It is clearly event that one does not need to leave Allegany County to sample wonderful cuisine. I would also like to thank all the wonderful people at the VFW in Cuba for sharing their facility with us. It is the perfect spot for hosting an event of this type. Donations from Argentieri Brothers, Kester’s Flower Shop, Tami’s Floral Expressions, La Gra, Plants and Company Inc. and music provided by The Scio Vocal Ensemble, the Cuba Rushford and Belfast School Jazz Bands and Jim Keough and Vanessa Larson allowed us to provide a touch of class to the event. Thanks so much for your donation of time and talent. I would be gravely remiss if I did not extend a huge thank you to the community for your patronage. You are at the heart of every successful venture. Thank you for braving the cold and snow, purchasing a ticket and taking a chance on an unknown event. I am always humbled by the generosity of the people in this county. It is because of you that the Allegany County Chapter of the American Red Cross is able to respond when needed.
