We're dedicated to preventing, preparing for and responding to emergencies. That's why we offer life-saving courses for you and your family. As the leading authority on safety and life-saving skills, the Red Cross offers a variety of courses and programs that can mean the difference between life and death.

Babysitter Training

 

Want To Be A Star Babysitter?

Are you  prepared to take care of infants and toddlers? We can help! What does every parent want in a babysitter?  Find out at our Babysitter Training.

This very popular course gives 11 to 15 year olds the knowledge, skills, and confidence to care for infants and school-age children.

The class teaches participants to:

  • Respond to emergencies and illnesses with first aid, rescue breathing, and other appropriate care.

  • Make decisions under pressure.

  • Assess families' lifestyles and communicate with parents.

  • Understand stages of child development

  • Recognize safety and hygiene issues.

  • Manage young children safely.

  • Feed, diaper, and care for infants.

The American Red Cross Babysitter's Training combines video, activities, hands-on skills training and discussion for the most complete learning experience.

Lifeguard Training

This comprehensive course prepares participants for employment as lifeguards. Key features include:

  • CPR, first aid and other lifesaving skills presented in an aquatic setting

  • Skills-based scenarios and decision making

  • Consolidated participant’s manual containing course information for:
         - Lifeguard Training
         - First Aid
         - CPR for the Professional Rescuer
         - Automated External Defibrillation (AED) Essentials
         - Oxygen Administration for the Professional Rescuer
         - Preventing Disease Transmission (Bloodborne Pathogens)
         - Watermarks and Waterfront Lifeguarding (optional modules)

Adult CPR

Adult CPR is used on anyone 12 years of age and older (or over 55 pounds). This class is also a requirement for Child Care Providers that will be administering medication to children 8 and older in their care. Call the chapter today for more details or to register.

Infant and Child CPR

This class teaches lifesaving CPR skills for infants and children up to age 12. If you're a new parent or are ever around babies and young children, this class is a must to set your mind at ease. When I'm In Charge (WIIC)


This two-and-a-half-hour course prepares children to respond safely to a variety of situations when direct parental supervision is unavailable. Participants will:

  • Role play answering phone and door situations

  • Discuss gun and internet safety

  • Discuss personal safety and first aid situations
